Foxx Conference
 
 
The Foxx Conference All-Star Team for 1966 has been selected.  There were some
difficult decisions to make.  All teams in the conference were represented.
 
The at-large selections were filled first from the votes cast by the owners.
I had no problem including all the players who tied for the most votes. The
rest of the roster was rounded out by a combination of performances in the
present and potential based on past years quality and popularity.
 
Players having good years in 1966 include Woodward, Agee, Mota, and Blefary.
Players who could explode at any time based on past years include Banks,
Brock and McCovey which is why they were selected.
 
Pitcher selections were based more on present year performances. Relief work
was rewarded to Stu Miller and Aker.
 
Here is the proposed pitching order:
 
Marichal
Cuellar
Tiant
Chance
Maloney
McDowell
Gaylord Perry
Sanford
Kaat
McLain
 
To close the game out, it may be necessary to use Miller or Aker for the last
few outs.
 
The Foxx Conference will have its hand full with Paul Faits' powerful team.
