Mack Conference As the day of the All Star game comes upon us, I want all that are here to play and to witness this game to first remember our brothers and sisters that are over in Korea engaging the North Koreans in the war. While we watch and play this game, let us remember those that are giving their lives so that we may continue to watch and play baseball, the American game. The lineup for the Mack Conference All Stars is jammed packed with offense and pitching. Many deserving players were left off and hopefully they can make it to the game as players in the future. Jackie Robinson will be the leadoff hitter and he will have the green light. Watch Jackie run, what a sight to see. Jackie will be followed by Stan Musial and Walt Dropo with Yogi batting fourth. Larry Doby, Bob Elliot, Richie Ashburn and Danny O'Connell round out the order. Leading the reserves will be the power of Vern Stephens and Ted Kluzewski and the finess of Wayne Terwilliger and Johnny Pesky. These players give the manager a lot of options. Also among the reserves are Hank Sauer, George Kell, Sid Gordon, Monte Irvin, Bob Kennedy and Hoot Evers. Oh yes, don't let me forget Walker Cooper who will be backing up Yogi. Seems he was left of off the league's press release, so I don't want to forget him. On the mound will be Bob Lemon, the guy who hits as good as he pitches. Lemon will be followed onto the mound by Ewell Blackwell and Cliff Chambers. Hopefully I won't have to hold back any pitchers because they will be starting the first game for their respective teams after the break. The rest of the staff includes Vern Bickford, Jim Konstanty, Don Newcombe, Larry Jansen, Art Houteman, Bob Hooper and Al Benton. Due to the fact that Konstanty was listed twice, being picked by vote and as a reserve by the manager (whoops), the great Bob Feller will be added to the roster. Yessirree, should be one heck of a game. Jim Condon
